Commercial Property
Developers, investors, lenders, owners and tenants of all types of commercial property use us as their legal advisers. Our experience covers acquisition, disposal, funding and leasing of retail, industrial leisure and office property throughout Scotland. We know the property market inside-out and are well aware of trends and deals. Whilst our technical expertise is important, what our clients particularly value is our commercial approach and ability to turn things round quickly. We understand where value can be realised and added and our objective is to get deals done as quickly as possible - the quicker, the earlier all parties start to benefit. Our commercial and legal acumen is reflected in the large number of blue-chip clients we have acted for over many years.
We are particularly adept at handling complex, large scale and high-value work, such as joint ventures, mixed-use developments and transactions that require a wide range of specialisms. In many of our transactions, our property, environment and planning lawyers are all in action. Indeed, Chambers Directory (2004) cites our planning and environmental expertise as a particular forte of our property team.
'Observers underlined the "tidy retail practice" of this Edinburgh firm.' (Chambers Directory 2004).
Retail property is one of the cornerstones of the firm and we act for many of the UK's leading high-street names - both in the 'high street' and edge/out of town.Leasing is another of our specialisms and we deal with both contentious and non-contentious aspects. We are regularly involved in development; typical examples include high street and out-of-town retail parks and leisure centres such as the development of Pentland Retail Park at Straiton and Howard Avenue, East Kilbride, which involved site assembly, leasing and development. We've also acted in many mixed-use developments, such as acquisition of development land for an 'urban village' incorporating housing, retail, offices, industrial and community land and land acquisition for a large city-centre hotel, office and residential development, as well as having an excellent track record in property investment matters.
Our litigation lawyers take care of disputes involving property, from arbitration and alternative dispute resolution to tribunals and court action.
